WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO GET THE BODY OF MY DREAMS?
I was thinking earlier what sets aside the clients who see truly fantastic results and those that simply tread water.
What ‘magic formula’ do all of these success stories all have in common?
When I sat down and thought about it, it’s actually really simple and obvious what these guys “secrets” to being a success are.
1. BECOME OBSESSIVE
We constantly preach a message of flexibility and long term sustainability of programmes.
Unfortunately in client language this can all too often translate to “do what you like, it doesn’t really matter”.
In my experience these people have usually been doing what they liked for quite some time now and it’s usually the reason that they have lost their way.
Show me someone in any walk of life who has casually stumbled upon success or got to the top by just making small changes. When you are driven and know what you want it creates a focus that won’t settle for small changes, don’t try to fight it!
The clients who are knowing rather than guessing are the ones getting the results, smashing their body goals and hitting those PB’s. Don’t settle for average.
2. BE WILLING TO TEMORARILY DITCH LIFE
Going out is fun!
Eating junk food is tempting…
Having lie ins feels great!
Unfortunately, as an adult sometimes these things need to take a back seat when you have aspirations of transforming your body.
You are going to need to learn to say NO regularly to a lot of your current lifestyle habits and ways of doing things. You don’t like the sound of that….then call it a day now if you want serious change. Pull up your trousers, put down your daily treat for no reason and go do some exercise!
Training and your diet are going to need to jump up in your priorities above partying, above fast food, above sleeping in, above almost EVERYTHING.
3. BE ABLE TO KEEP GETTING BACK UP
Depending on how long your journey is going to take there WILL be setbacks on the way.
You are going to need to develop a thick skin.
People will doubt you, judge you, make comments and question every aspect of what you do.
When you make a mistake you can’t turn a mole hill into a mountain.
You need to be able to contextualise errors and repeatedly pick yourself back up and go again.
Finding opportunities rather than barriers will be key.
To see a significant change you can’t be a precious flower.
Heed my advice, suck it up and off you go!
